Learning Support

ISK believes all students can learn at a higher level. Students receiving Learning Support services come with their own strengths, learning preferences, and areas of challenge.

The main goal of the Learning Support program is to offer the necessary support to students with academic challenges in order to help them access the curriculum in the least restrictive environment.

We collaborate with classroom teachers to enhance MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) by providing strategies and engaging in continuous discussions aimed at improving student learning. We support students needing Tier 2 assistance and provide individualized support for those needing Tier 3 support.

Support for students includes interventions in specific areas of need, scaffolding of content materials, and assistance with organizational and self-management skills. We maintain regular communication with parents to discuss ILP goals and other objectives that students are working toward.

Additionally, we identify students who may need psychoEducational evaluation and facilitate that process. We are also an integral part of the Students of Concerns (SoC) discussions. We follow the necessary referral procedures to design a support plan and follow up accordingly.
