Advisory Program
We believe that in order to create a genuine sense of community throughout the school, meaningful connections between teachers and students must be established. Relationships that allow for open communication ultimately support academic success. In addition, it is important for students to have an opportunity to learn healthy character traits and how to take effective steps to becoming contributing members of society.
All students in grades kindergarten through grade 8 will receive Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons one time per week during their morning meeting or WINN time. Students in grades 9 through 12 receive Advisory lessons weekly from their grade level Advisory teachers. Meeting consistently in these smaller groups allows for the building of strong teacher/student bonds.
We provide a non-evaluative course/class time that offers an opportunity for students to establish a closer relationship with a trusted adult in the school. During this time, teachers are able to help students develop a sense of belonging and purpose through SEL lessons, guided conversations, and team-building activities.
